Need a longer DOF or better focus overall. Also, it is unclear what the title is referring to. The colors are a bit dull, and the clouds in the distance are uninteresting and blurry.

A little flat. I don't think the B&W is helping here. And the blurred leaf (or whatever you call that part of the bamboo plant) is a distraction.

Too dark in the areas to which the title is obviously referring. It is entirely unclear what they are or why they are an interesting subject.

OK Composition, though with the direction the beast is facing, it would do better on the right hand side of the frame. I would have framed it with the animal at the bottom right thirds point. That would also eliminate some of the out-of-focus grass at the front of the image, which is slightly distracting. In particular the change from blur to sharp is too far from the animal. If it were closer, it would not distract. I would either open it up and go for a real shallow DOF on just the animal, with the grass almost ALL creamy with bokeh, or stop it down and get the entire frame sharp and full of small details in the grass. (In case you can't tell, I cannot determine what kind of deer/antelope/grazing plains animal this is... :) )

Well framed by the trees on the outside. Could use to have more detail in the foreground grasses and reeds. Other than the framing, it is compositionally bland and the vanilla sky does nothing to make it more interesting. Technically pretty good, but it does nothing for me...

Nice and sharp around the eyes, but the brows, nose, mouth, and hairline should be a bit sharper. Soft skin is fine, but key points of interest around the face should be sharp. Also, the zipper on the fleece is nice and sharp, leading to the impression that the sharpness around the eyes is post-processing and the softness is not intentional but due to the focal point being off. Also, the skin tone is a bit red, but that I will not knock you for, since it could be the natural skin tone of the young lady. And she is a little cutie!

This is a bit too soft. If you are going to go in this far you should make it tac-sharp. If you want to go for the soft look, back off a bit and get the flower out to the tips of the petals. It is also hard to determine if the softness is intentional or because of a missed focus point...

I think this might be more effective if you cropped just above the cloud bank and either presented it as a pano or a 4x6 with some trimmed off of each side. But, that said, it is a fantastic shot and worthy of a high score anyway! :)

One of my favorite places and favorite places to shoot! I was just there over the summer, but didn't get to take any nighttime shots. This is wonderful!!! I didn't see this one during voting or it would have gotten another 10! Congrats on your high finish!
