| OK Composition, though with the direction the beast is facing, it would do better on the right hand side of the frame. I would have framed it with the animal at the bottom right thirds point. That would also eliminate some of the out-of-focus grass at the front of the image, which is slightly distracting. In particular the change from blur to sharp is too far from the animal. If it were closer, it would not distract. I would either open it up and go for a real shallow DOF on just the animal, with the grass almost ALL creamy with bokeh, or stop it down and get the entire frame sharp and full of small details in the grass. (In case you can't tell, I cannot determine what kind of deer/antelope/grazing plains animal this is... :) ) |

Wow. Is that the "velvet" I've read about, that surrounds new antlers?
The deer(?) is great to look at; I would've been more engrossed with a tighter crop on the left, though, and more space to the right. I don't mean to zoom fully in on the animal, but rather to move it a little back toward the center. If you have the pixels, of course. |

| Wow, that buck has an almost human face. Really interesting; plus, he's got a rope or something hanging from his horn? Hope he's okay. The color of the green and the detail in it are superb. I like how the depth of focus is in the middle range around the deer and along the entire horizontal at that level. Not sure, but it might have even got a better reaction from me if the empty space were to the right of the deer or if it could've been a little looser crop on that side. |
