*&^%bby chipucComment: I think this photo fits the challenge topic very well!!! Very much “Missed focus”! Great composition, I love the B/W, and nice bokeh in the OOF areas. Great job!!! |

Untitledby BarbBComment: I love the tone, and I think the photo fits the challenge topic well. The only items I do not like are I think the background is a little busy, and it appears there is a bit of lens distortion on the left (possibly from a wide angle?) But I do love the candid feel! Great job! |

Late Summer Huesby wildirisComment: Beautiful bokeh! It looks like a painting! I love the colors! The only downfall I see is that it doesn’t seem to fully fit “missed focus” but more abstract OOF. In my opinion, “missed focus” is just that – missed, not intentional OOF. But there seems to be quite a few differing views on this while looking through the challenge entries. So besides that, this is a beautiful photo!!! Great job! |

Abstract gardenby Rino63Comment: In my opinion, this appears to be more abstract extreme OOF, instead of something that portrays “missed focus”. But the colors are lovely. I am not very fond of the dark area in the lower right corner, but the orange and green are very beautiful! |

Losing Focusby ineedauniquenameComment: I like your take on this challenge - playing on the "missed focus" as the emotion of your photo. But in the photo, it appears the focus is on the Scotch bottle, which appears intentional and appears to be the main subject of the photo, with the person being just the background (sort of like some stock photography, where an object is the primary focus and the person or people are in the OOF background, just to help personify the photo). I am not sure which way was your intention, but that is my first impression on it.
Besides that, good job!!! – I love your play on “missed focus” as an emotion! |

The Merry-Go-Roundby franktheyankComment: To begin with, I am not sure which way I lean as to whether motion blur fits in with this challenge or not. If it is used in conjunction with an OOF area, then I think it would be appropriate. It this particular photo, the merry-go-round looks as though it would be in focus if it was stopped. But since there are differing opinions on this topic, I am not going to allow my personal opinion of does motion blur = OOF affect my vote.
So with that aside, I do like the way you used the blur - it is very creative. What I am not that fond of is what appears to be a tilt, and the slightly in focus background on image left, but not on the right. It feels very off balanced to me. If you crop out the left, I think it would help add to the composition. But besides that, great job! This was a very interesting challenge to participate in and I think your choice of subject is very creative!
BTW - This is all just my opinion - please take it with a grain of salt! Most of the time, I don’t know what I am talking about! :) |

Lost Without by RoeeRozenComment: What a beautiful shade of purple! The fog is wonderful, the shaded OOF figure adds to its eeriness. Wonderfully done! |
