The old House by the Seaby GunnsiComment: Classic example of great subject, effective composition (except move to get the car out) but the flat light makes for a very tough image to catch. No dramatic color to compensate. |

Four Years Laterby KonadorComment: I love the tonality and focus. But the complete black on right side of face creates a harsher feel than the rest of the photograph suggests for me. Some details on right(particularly the eye) may help. |

Sunny afternoon!by birgirComment: I like the surrealism and lighting but suspect that others will not. It falls squarely into the anti-photo snapshot catagory that is hot in the art world. Works for me. |

Meet You at the State!by livitupComment: Brilliant colors and exposure. The foreground is not helping here at all. I might look to crop almost everything but the top third. |

Popby glodaComment: Wonderful and playful. Brilliant eyes, great light. I actually would have liked to see more in focus and I would have whitened the eyes which would make them even more stunning. Really love it. |

hey wake up, we are blue today !by gocComment: I am not sure I can do as well as you did for me by way of comments ("Return to Civil War?" in photojournialism) but I thought I at least owed a shout.
First, I think your score for this shot is absurd. I would give it at least a 8 or 9. Here's what I like:
The painterly feel and monotone colors work exceptionally well. It is surreal but not impossible. Warm shapes and cool colors work well as contrast for me. The simplicity of only one subject also works well.
I would try with even less focus on the foreground flower to see if that let's the entire image take on a painterly feeling. What if it is all a blur and the color and shapes become the entire subject. I have been playing with blurred images to make color the subject and occassionally enjoyed the result. My only other thought would have been to clip away the closed flower.
Overall works very well for me.

Smoking Bulletby xianartComment: The pitfalls of creating art. I still think this is one of the best of the bunch. A your score should be far higher. Love the creativity. |
