Lighthouse Keeperby PaigeComment: You can't fail to do well with this. It's slightly more about the scene than him but this will be a DPC voters honey |

Jullietby PanoComment: This is good lighting and portrait. It's not going to set the world on fire abut it has technical proficiency that is quite excellent. Unfortunately DPC voters won't recognise this |

At The Fishermans Capenby KrisbyComment: Stunning location but the portrait really doesn't work. I am trying to see what's out of frame all around this image. The subject;s feet, the source of the water at the top and the rest of the cabin to the left. |

The Kindergarten Teacherby scarbrdComment: Now this is very very cool. the concept of her still and calm in the middle of mayhem is the perfect environmental portrait! I am bothered by some of the motion work. It looks spontaneous but then some it doesn't so I suspect it was done PP. That doesn't detract from the image but it does just a tad on the vote. If it's all in-camera then I'm happy to add another point to my 7 |

Waiting for the Perfect Shotby cislanderComment: This has powerful beginnings but the shallow DOF bugs me. I tried to see it as a feature of the shot by isolating him but I kept coming back to what he is doing ands wanted then to see it as well |

An artist in his studioby Ian-AndrewComment: Fascinating subject and environment but you've lost the best of it. The area to the left of his back is lost to the eye. Becasue he strats almost centred and is looking right, the composition is compromised. If you had panned right to put him on thrids left line we would have him facing into the frame and his work which we would be ablke to see more of |

The portraitistby pmottaComment: A study of a study! I love it. Composition's good and the subject interesting ... and it meets the challenge in spades |
