The shadows and darks pop out even more because of the grain, it draws you in and makes the entire composition seem more stark and barren.

Another option is if there was a crop so that all that could be seen were the stairs....yes, this would "clip" the hair of the pedestrian, but think it would be forgivable. I don't necessarily it's better or worse than this, as I think both have their pros and cons in terms of overall composition.

Love the understatement in this photograph. Turning the reflection upside down is a wonderful, wonderful twist.

I'm in love with this picture for it's simplicity. So many people try so hard to get a great shot. Grain is great in further distinguishing various textures...metals and woods being at the top of the list. Great angle, perfect lighting situation and wonderful proportions. Not sure if you used a diffuse light filte ron your camera, but it sure has that effect.

Rural photography always looks GREAT in grain. Tremendous piece of Americana. Looks a tad over-processed, but you know what, I'm pretty fond of that style myself.

One of the better photos I've seen in the challenge thus far. Wedding/commitment sort of pictures always look great with grain.

Can't beat old-time classic photography. Old mill and industrial architecture have always been a personal favorite of mine. Great reflection.

I love the crop on this - many would've included the treeline and sky by you wisely chose to use the rule of a thirds in a different manner. Wish a lot of other DPCers understood such composition - great job.
