Ballsby photogooComment: this is very dark and muddy. you can't really tell what you're looking at unless you give it a good hard look. i'd like to see more contrast / hard light off the ball in order to bring some of it's curves to life. 4. |

"A Helping Hand..."by tfarrell23Comment: good lighting and contrast. your hand looks really tense and awkward. this photo kind of gives me a weird feeling. heh. i think it would also work better if you took off the watch or whatever it is on your wrist in the corner. technically, a very nice shot. 6. |

Majicby rickhd13Comment: good control of light here. i'm not really floored by the subject or anything, but technically this is pretty good. maybe a less dramatic angle would look a little better, allowing you to get more of those eyes in the shot rather than just the extreme highlights. i like the highlights on the whiskers in the bottom right. 5. |

Profile in Low Keyby OneSweetSinComment: this is a nice shot. my only gripe here would be that the skin tones lack tonal range. i'd love to see some more hotspots or high-contrast lighting (i've said this on a lot of the pictures i've commented on this challenge, but i really like higher contrast when working in low-key). other than that, i think this is worthy of a frame. the use of negative space to outline the countours of his face is great. good work. 8. |

Black Delightby kosmikkreeperComment: this is a good study of abstract shapes and forms, and the contrast is good for this type of photography, but i'm afraid the subject doesn't really do much for me. 6. |

Crowded : Low Keyby crabappl3Comment: this is a good shot with a lot of underlying emotion. the blank and introspective stares of each individual seems to show a little about their mood, and i like that. framing is good and the diagonal composition is very nice. i'd like to see maybe a little more high contrast lighting on the people, but overall this is a really nice shot. good work. 8. |

Back In Blackby sherComment: this is a nice shot, though i think you've cluttered it a bit by including the "marshall" insignia. i've seen shots of guitars similar to this that really work by showing the great curves and smooth finish using high contrast focused lighting. you've started to explore that here with the guitar, but the shot's overall "focus" gets lost when you include the logo. 4. |

Controlby KonadorComment: hey, i have this controller. heh. i think this shot is a good attempt, but maybe a closer-up abstract of just the black buttons and the reflections and contours they have to offer would have worked better. the large areas of gray in the middle of the controller are rather uninteresting as is. 5. |

Plastic Surgeryby DrJOnesComment: this is definitely the kind of contrast i was looking for in this challenge. the bright highlights work really well here to outline and abstract the subject. my only gripe is that i think it'd like to see the background be completely black (though not quite as black as the latex). the part of the background that goes to gray on the left side kind of unbalances the image a bit. good work overall. 8. |

Virginia Creeperby indigo997Comment: yeah, this is really nice. the soft focus effects give this a very ghostly feel, and the tones just add too it. i love the selective light that really brightens up the center part of this. possibly my only gripe is that, after all, it is just a shot of some leaves with little else really giving it any impact, but the mood is such that it really works. good job. 8. |
