Memento Moriby greenem2Comment: Artistic, great lighting - wonder how many voters wont see that - fantastic composition... I really like the way that all the colours blend together to form a really well colour balanced and dramatic shot... (10) |

Granny Smithsby KrazyKatComment: This is a good shot. But, I can see a tiny flaw with the composition. The main subject is perhaps a little to central in my opinion. I think that off-setting the fruit, to the right and down in this case, would weaken the strength of the slightly overpowering background and boost the central subject. This is only my opinion. I love the way the apples blend into the darkness on the left edge, but there is a slight glare on the apple skin. Try bouncing or diffusing the light source in some wayâ€Â¦ That said, it might sound like I don't like the shot – on the contrary, I think it's a great shot (8) |

A is for Apple!by ZeissmanComment: Fantastic portrait. Some may say the colour is a bit washed out, but I happen to like the natural effect within the composition; it allows the entire image to blend well and highlights the child's features to perfection. I can't knock this shot at all, and the only possible suggestion to improve the shot could also ruin it; but a huge red apple to add contrast may have looked great – but it may not. I'll leave that one for you to decide. Great shot (9) |

A Salad for Caesarby magnetic9999Comment: This is a classic still life composition with great use of colours and placement. Only flaw – because it's slightly over exposed top left, the background becomes a little too dominant because of lost uniformity. Notice how relaxing the bottom of the shot is when compared with the top. Other than that, it's still a very good shotâ€Â¦ (8) |

Cherry Tomato on Crystalby LindaLeeComment: There are a number of forums running at the moment that ask what is, and how to use, negative space – just point them at your picture; after the voting of course :o) It's a great example (and there are a few in this challenge) of how to use it effectively. The shot is very inventive and it's a wonderful use of lighting and compositionâ€Â¦ (10) After the challenge, I'd love to know if this picture is related to another shot using a similar (or same) glass receptacle? |

Choppedby karmatComment: This is a great idea, but I think that macro shots of this type have to pin sharp to be effective. Other than that, composition and lighting are fine, but the colours tend to merge rather than stand out because of the focus. Sorry to be negative and good luckâ€Â¦ |

Raspberry Mistby SwashbucklerComment: This is a mouthwateringly wonderful shot; you have captured the essence of heavy rain fall without spoiling the colour, texture or overall feel. Brilliant idea, top artistic merit and superb composition; overall, SUPERB shotâ€Â¦(10++) |
