Poverty can also send innocent people to jail. The promise of Gideon in 1969 has yet to be fulfilled. The jails are full of impoverished people though...nice connection.

Comment:
Poverty doesn't just mean being "without money." The old are often rich with wisdom. His shirt looks new, not raggedy, and his basket isn't that torn and bad either. The typical person asking for such handouts in the US makes an average of $50 a day...some - in more affluent cities, make up to $500 a day.

Poverty is in the eye of the beholder. Looks like at least enough for a meal. Is anyone impoverished who has the richness of music, the ability to play well enough to garner a tip or two? Nice image.
