While browsing through the B&W portfolios, I saw this image and it gave me the creeps. It took me months for my brain to register that those towers are no more and each time i see an image of them it gives me a big jolt. This is a nice image. Like how you simplified it to its essence and you created a beautiful arrow negative space.

Very nice image. From the thumbnail i could already notice that the light was 'magical', as you say. Really like your choice of aperture; it differentiates it from other shots of such arches. Here it almost gives the impression of a sculptor who has started to carve his work of art out of the raw stone.

Zeuszen, congrats with this image. You finished quite well but i think you would have done better if some folks hadn't marked it down for 'not meeting the challenge yadayadayada'. I really like this shot which is way more important than doing something for a one time challenge.
Btw, also wanted to say thanks for the very insightful and eloquent comment you made the other day on a thread i started about provocation in art.

Oui, elle est vraiment très belle et il paraît que je la connais.
Yes, she is indeed very beautiful and i believe i know who she is
:)
It is also a classy style of beauty that i find very appealing, à la Isabella Rossilini, rather than that much sought after 'overtly sexy' beauty that often is really nothing but an empty shell. Please convey this compliment to your model !
Good portrait. I understand the pose and the position of the photographer. What i do not like about this is that somehow the face seems \'disjointed\' as it were from the body. From this vantage point, the relationship between the face and the body/shoulder almost seems a little like torture and almost as if the face is somehow pasted on. Vous comprenez?
;)

Well done. A nice tableau to think about in a mass of black. Like the irony of the title and the hand \'holding\' the wires that have a \'hold\' on the mind. The whites pop a little too much for my taste. Nice colors. With your set-up you convey a lot with an economy of props. I always like that. 8
On second thoughts, and after having tweaked my votes, i'm upping this to a 9. I really like your message here and the way you presented it even though the popping whites still bother me (even in the thumbnail. 9

Very nice abstract and i just LOVE abstracts. Great colors, great lighting, great 'motion-like' effect in top right, nice blurring. All yummy, yummy to me. Hey, and thanks for not showing sunglasses and a red&blue pill (didn't see the movie but after having voted on all submissions i understand they figured BIG in the movie :) 10

Very slick. Very creepy. I like it! I might have cropped some of the black on the left off because it shifts the overall balance to the left away from the face. Then again, the image isn't just about the face. Some of the light lighting around the nose and cheek bother me a little but i'm very forgiving when i'm being pleased.

BTW, normally i leave a score with my comments and i had forgotten it here. It got a 9 from me (update 5/28)

Good image, good portrait in relation to the challenge. It might have been cool if you could have put just a bit more light on the hands to clearly show the red and blue pill significance but keeping the light on the face just as is. Overall i like the darkness and, much to my own loss in a prior submission, i do like dark images :) 8

Unsure what the relevance of this image is to the challenge but since i didn't see the movie who am i to judge? :) This is a simple but the distortion of the reflection in the mirror is great. 7
