Banded Wooly Bearby rileyComment: << Critique Club >>
Initial Impression:
Nice macro. The colors are a little off-putting, but hey, it's nature, and they're nice and vivid.
Composition:
A centered composition works well for macro shots, and this is no exception. Perhaps a more square crop would be more pleasing with the round flower head, but that may just be nit-picking.
Color/Tone:
Very vivid colors, even if it's not the most pleasant combination in my eyes. Did you try this as a black & white or duotone? There's plenty of contrast in the photo, and I wonder the caterpillar would have been more camouflaged?
Focus/Exposure:
The focus is dead-on, and the depth of field gives the photo an almost 3D quality.
Title:
Servicable. It is what it is. Can't find too much fault with it - I have nothing better to suggest.
Meets the Challenge:
Yes, I think so. I think I can see what you were going for: the rust of the flower head matching the rust of the caterpillar. I do wonder if black and white would have made it meet the challenge more, though.
Summary:
Technically an almost flawless photo. Aesthetically, not the greatest, but certainly not bad. |

3 is a Magic Numberby dsa157Comment: A gorgeous family! The light could be softer, as my eyes seem to be pulled to the bright area of the woman's face, but overall it's an excellent capture of a special moment. Well done! |

Little One Left Outby sammigurlComment: Very serene, almost dream-like image. The wider border top & bottom adds to the feeling of nostalgia or remembrance, somehow, maybe because it looks like a slide? I like this a lot. |

Party of Oneby CalliopeKelComment: This is a very nice candid shot. You made an excellent choice presenting this in black & white, and it's well-composed, too. I may be projecting, but he looks like he's waiting for his wife to finish her shopping, and I can appreciate how that feels.... |

Three-Balled Kringle-Catby StrikeslipComment: Wow - so that's where Christmas ornaments come from! Brings a whole new perspective to the phrase "trim the tree...."
The photo is effectively composed, but the lighting is lacking, I'm afraid, making it a tad too dark. |

Fire & Brimstoneby elpyComment: I really like this sinister scene! If there had been a little more distance between the figure and the fire, so that the fire completely framed the subject, I think I would have liked it more... maybe. Bumping up. |

Tiny vaseby AlbireoComment: I love how the lighting makes the flower incidental to the photo - you've completely subverted floral photography! |
