Three Chairsby colourBlindComment: One of the most original shots of this challenge. I love the muted tones, the tones of wood. The off centered composition suits the abstract nature of the photo. 9 |

"Michigan Handiwork"by tfarrell23Comment: Great weath of triangles. I like the variations and the light fixture as an additional element. I'm not keen on the foreground beam (I played with the frame and cropped it out with my browser and prefer it without it). Also, your highlights are blown out in the lower right corner. 7 |

The sweetest triangleby RUEDISCHMUTZComment: Hah! I love the subject. It was one of the first subjects I thought of for this challenge. You've done a great job, nice sense of depth and the triangle form for the chocolate and packaging comes out loud and clear. 8 |

Midnight beautyby parrotheadComment: The foreground is very distracting, but without it I see where you composition suffers. Nice colors. |

White Water Fallsby prbettsComment: It doesn't seem level. If it's a deliberate choice, then I think the composition should support it in some way. Nice capture, a lovely spot. |

Saguaroby BAMartinComment: Greetings from the Critique Club
I think you have a strong subject for a photo here. The landscape itself is breathtaking.
I understand the impluse to duotone the image for the sake of minimalism (reducing the elements). This being basic editing, you're not able to use burning and dodging to support this aesthetic. This means that the cactus and other details on the rock face are lost and the outline of the rock becomes the dominant feature of the photo, supported by the softness of the cloudy background.
Your title says to me that your subject is the saguaro on the cliffside. Unfortunately their placement and size does not lend them to be the focus of the composition. Instead the dominant element in your composition is the outline of the hillside.
The rest of the photo is solid - the focus is strong, though your post processing oversharpened slightly (there is some haloing around the edge of the rocks).
I hope you'll post the details about your process in your comments in the future, I love seeing the steps and particulars about shoots mentioned there. |

Mouse Houseby lemondsterComment: What a fun subject. I wish the photo had more contrast. I like the gradient of light across the wall and think that more of a pop on the little door would help. |

Camouflageby mb27Comment: I think the composition is a bit too muddled with all the different types of lines going through (the branches and sticks). If it were the same tree and same type of lines, I think it would help the minimalism (reducing the elements). The photo looks oversharpened. |

Floatby sailracer_98Comment: I really wanted to like this photo more. I like the idea of it, but the colors just aren't compelling enough to draw me in. The fluorescent floater just doesn't pop for me. I like that you caught such a glassy reflection. |

Sneaking a Peakby Nikolai1024Comment: It's an interesting idea - the composition is well done, the door and frame seem to disappear as the viewer focuses completely on what they can see through the crack in the door. There seems to be a bit of noise in teh photo, especially in the expanses of gray. The red towel is a nice plus. |
