Magic Lampby TejComment: I like this image, the simple flame and the highlight on the translucence of the creamer/gravyboat cup thingie is great. I like the color chosen for the background too. I'm not sure what's missing though that'd really make the image pop for me. More light? Not sure if that'd effect the flame and the glow of the background. The focus seems okay, but perhaps if it were a bit sharper (initially not from sharpening since there seems to be some compression artifacting around the glass possibly from sharpening) that might help it pop more. I guess I'm really looking for it to be defined from the background more. Great idea though, glad I saw this one. I gave it a 5 |

Fire Fallsby Buckeye_FanComment: I like this composition for the most part. Love the way the fire drapes and flows. The different nodules (are those matchsticks?) add a nice bit of uniformity to the image that also helps highlight the more organic feel of the fire. I do not like the background. It distracts me from the main subject with all its crinkle and creasing. I don't mind the color, though maybe a cooler color of blue or green might have added a better contrast and might not have distracted as much. Not sure. I gave a 5 |

Mystic Flameby SDWComment: I like the movement, curves and shapes the flame is making. Definitely meets the challenge and has some nice orange tones. I do wish the flame was sharper though, better focused (not just by adding sharpening) so the lines and edges were more defined in their shape. I gave a 5 |

Flickerby SJCarterComment: This is a nice image. I like the subject choices and the coloring. There are nice crystalline tones to it and the focus looks good for the most part, though a bit soft in some areas. I'm not sure about the composition. The two items are pretty straightforward in their presentation so I'm not sure if a different composition would add more drama and thus more interest to the image or not. Seems a bit static and flat in the placing as is though. I gave a 5 |

The Goblet of Fireby xXxscarletxXxComment: I love the way the flames are reflected/refracted in the glass goblet. There's nice colors shown and the lighting looks good. The focus looks okay though I wish it were a bit sharper. Simple in composition but has a number of areas of interest available. I gave a 5 since it has a lot of potentially interesting things to investigate but it doesn't keep my attention long, not sure what's missing that would keep my attention invested more though. |

Red-eyeby TygerrComment: This has an interesting though creepy feeling for me. I like the intensity of the red and the way it contrasts with the blue iris. The flame in the eye is an interesting touch too. It looks like the whites of the eye have been way overprocessed though, very unnatural and the area around the eye seems oversmoothed (this may not be the case but it looks that way to me!). I like that you went in a more untraditional bent than some of the other entries, even if it isn't as appealing to me personally. I gave a 5 |

Tiki in the windby skieruscanComment: Nice movement in the flame. Good color. Lighting is nice too. I wish the focus were a bit sharper but I do like how the flame originator (the tiki) is more muted so the attention can center on the flame without distraction. I gave a 5 |

Flame Throwerby quiet_observationComment: I like this image, the lines of the cage are great. The contrast of the fire and the blackened iron/steel looks nice too. Lighting looks okay, focus looks good but could probably be somewhat sharper. I wish it had been rotated 90 degrees too. When I tilt my head I can see the flame almost as a figure that's trapped behind cage bars and that notion makes the image even more interesting to me. Just a thought though! I gave a 5 |

Fire Starterby jdannelsComment: Meets the challenge. Has some interesting colors too. The lighting looks okay but the focus seems slightly off, not quite sharp enough to start with, maybe more fill light is needed. Not sure. I gave a 5 |

Foouur!!by spydrComment: Fun image. I like the idea and the composition is spot on. I wish the lighting was a bit better on the ball/tee and the focus was stronger on the flaming club though. Something like this needs to be tack sharp to me simply because it has a simple set composition and the eye is riveted to the two subjects. I gave a 5 |
