I'm sorry, this will probably sound negative, but IMO your photo doesn't really do justiceto the idea or the title. The composition is dead center in the middle of the frame. Suggest getting closer and applying the tutorials on "rule of thirds" to recompose it a bit. The background (tile?) does not support the message you're trying to get across. The focus on the book (bible?) is a little weak, possibly because the lighting is a bit weak. A much sharper focus would have helped. Ultimately, the photos that do well here are the ones that convey strong emotional content, and the ones that visually "pop" with color, contrast, and ... I don't know, vibrancy maybe. Your subject has plenty of emotional content, but it doesn't make it into the picture. If you're inclined, you might want to go back and reshoot it from different angles, different compositions, different lighting, and different contexts (backgrounds) to see if you find something you like better. |
