I'm afraid I don't get it. Is that a bible or some other literary reference? Without the title, it's just a picture of a book.

Book on a batthroom floor?

I like this on the tile floor. Good composition.

nice composition, love the black & white

Can't see hope here, can't even tell what the book is.

Nice statement.

The bible at floor... strange.

The tiled floor isn't a good background for this book (of spells?). It looks as if it could be a mens or womens room floor.

Great subject for "hope." I'm sure others will disagree, but I think it might score higher if the Bible was more in focus and some of the background was cropped out. Good luck!

A Bible works best when it is clearly in focus. And why is it on the floor? The hope you may have been feeling for this does not come through in the photo.

I'm sorry, this will probably sound negative, but IMO your photo doesn't really do justiceto the idea or the title. The composition is dead center in the middle of the frame. Suggest getting closer and applying the tutorials on "rule of thirds" to recompose it a bit. The background (tile?) does not support the message you're trying to get across. The focus on the book (bible?) is a little weak, possibly because the lighting is a bit weak. A much sharper focus would have helped. Ultimately, the photos that do well here are the ones that convey strong emotional content, and the ones that visually "pop" with color, contrast, and ... I don't know, vibrancy maybe. Your subject has plenty of emotional content, but it doesn't make it into the picture. If you're inclined, you might want to go back and reshoot it from different angles, different compositions, different lighting, and different contexts (backgrounds) to see if you find something you like better.

not to purge the issues of church, or anything but... what if we are the wicked? Please, I don't really want an answer. It isn't really a question.
