Shot in a park near my house with the help of a 7 year old daughter of a neighbor. Scope set up on top of a low rise, camera on tripod downslope. Took dozens of shots looking for that perfect combination of blue tones in sky and silhouetted people. Didn't want the result to be too dark, but wanted that impersonal feel. I have Natalie standing on one of my accessory case, which is why my legs are cut off and hers aren't. I also hate the way my thumb protrudes from my "pointy finger" but whaddya gonna do?

Crop, most adjustments via curves to darken overall, enhance blues, and achieve the silhouette look. Remove noise (KODAK plugin) and finally sharpen edges.

I trust the "hope" theme will be evident to non-astronomers as well.

I don't knowanything that would cause someone to score this lower than a 10, but 1's and 2's? Even 3's... way too many. This should have ribboned.

This is one of the coolest pictures I've seen on this site.

I really love this photo. I am a big fan of dark figures or objects against a light backdrop. I also like it for its everyday-ness. a very good photo.

Fantastic sillouette! The blue of the sky really sets it off. Excellent job.

This one is really an eye catcher. I love how you captured the rich blue night sky and the great silhouettes. The composition is great with the telesope and the man's arm pointing you to the stars. We are astronomy fans with telescopes - so this image really speaks to me! Good luck!

What a great photo and an excellent choice for silhouette. The composition and action in this shot are really nice and there's no noise at all in the sky. Really great job!

Very nice silouhette. Only thing I would have left out is the tree on the left. Good job!

I believe this shot would have been stronger without the telescope.

I like this quite a bit - very rich color in the sky. I'm not so fond of the tree, it detracts from the simple message in the rest of the shot.

Very whimsical. I think it could benefit from slightly more contrast. The silhouettes aren't as sharp as they could be.
