I love the way the flower doesn't "face" us, almost seems haughty/pouty and I can imagine a little "hmph" at the end of your title :)

You need the selective color to meet the challenge and it does help separate the rose from the background, but this photo is quite a bit too busy for me and the background highlights are blown out.
