Hope: continuing on in the face of adversity and against the odds. My definition, not some dictionary's.

I'm sure I'm heading for a middle-of-the-road (at best) score and place with this one. My guess is I'll get comments that this does not depict hope, that there's too much out of focus (I like the blur that implies movement) and that it is too blown out (again, I was deliberately overexposing for this).

I like the unusual view of a bug and that, because of the overexposure, the glass is almost like a sketch and doesn't dominate the shot, but is significant enough to provide context.

Postprocessing included neatimage, levels, brightness, contrast, desaturation of blue (the martini glass has a blue tint), and a boost of other colors. Cropped, resized, USM applied.

Shot with Tamron 28-75mm SP AF XR Di at 75mm and macro filter. +2.3 exposure compensation, aperture priority.

No grasshoppers were harmed in the taking of this photo.

The DOF is arguable but otherwise - excellent.

I have to wonder how this fits the topic.

Out of focus.

Doesn't convey hope to me, seems to be nudged in the challenge. Yet, it still makes sense. Cool macro, nice action capture,

Good picture.

Yeh, there's just something about it - great contrast with lots of white space, just the hint of the barrier holding him back, the instinctive drive for preservation fueling a constant search for escape, nice colors and selective focus on the slower areas of movement, good cropping and composition. He's also got a pretty jaunty stance. I just loved it.

Funny, this is the first one that made me laugh. (thanks). Yep, funny. Good photo, too...

I would place this photo very high in this challenge, maybe in top 10, it's humourous and the composition is very good, I like it.

not enough depth of field but I like the leg posture a lot

Nice concept and except for focus, nicely executed. Focus is going to be pretty hard through the glass do degree of difficulty is pretty high.

This is very cool and original shut

Apart from the fact that I personally do not find most insects aesthetically appealing, this fella appears more to be singing an aria at the top of its lungs under a spotlight than to be struggling/hoping to be free. But still, creative thinking and set-up.

I like the photo but don't think it fits the challenge.. it's hope, not determination.
