Modeled after the Rembrandt painting Abraham and Isaac (1634), though taken from behind to preserve anonymity of the models (myself and Isaac.

Check out the outline of the clouds swooping in over the hillside ...

Note to CPS: My son Isaac was not harmed in the making of this picture, though he admitted that the rock made his back itch.

-Tripod, timer, manual mode
-Minor touch-ups to clone out stripes on pants leg and highlight knife blade
-RGB Curve
-Channel Mixer to create monchrome image
-Blue/Yellow Curve to give toning effect
-RGB Curve through graduated mask to create more contrast in the clouds
-Crop a bit from left and bottom
-Resize
-USM at 66%/0.6 dia/TH = 5 (applied twice)
-Enlarge Canvas to make border
-Curve to inner border through graduated mask
-SaveAs JPEG at quality 9/10 = 264KB

An unsettling image, an unsettling story. I especially connected to this because my son sang Britten's Canticle II as a boy soprano.

Thanks everyone! For those who hated my "gilded frame" (I was emulating a Rembrandt, and that's how I usually see them displayed) I have almost completely toned-down the inner border for the print version, trying to leave just a hint of gradient to suggest an element of three-dimensionality.

I like the concept but not sure about the rest... that frame is too much for me, it takes away from the image.
