Interesting how the two main characters in this scene are looking at 'someone'. You have the man in the backdrop smiling looking at the woman. The woman is seated at the vanity table looking at herself in the mirror. I know what she sees but is she happy with what she sees is the mystery. He obviously is given the smile. This could me a still straight out of a movie. There is more to this story that we wait to unfold. Very well done in composition and lighting Allen - congratulations on the 4th place (I know, bit late but better late than never right:-) ). |

Lovely, interesting image, but I wish it didn't lean ever so slightly to the right :-( It's reading like a sloppy little flaw. If you want it to lean, as a rule, lean it enough to make it obvious that is your intention. |

I like how the double row of nail heads along the arms of the chair echo the necklaces, and the polka dot top adds to that theme. The lighting is good, catching all those elements, and her hair and skirt as well. But why is she wearing so many necklaces? with even more in the box. She doesn't appear to be trying them on since how can you tell how one looks individually while wearing the others at the same time. Certainly intriguing.. |

a nice portrait that has an air of opulence about it the lady with her pearls and the well dressed man in the background, though I think a smaller aperture would have helped to bring out more of his detail. Its nice lighting and a nice profile, well done |

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: How utterly fabulous! One of those images I look at and know that I have a long way to go with my own photography - quite wonderful lighting - in all dimensions; this gives your image uncommon depth and a luscious richness. The coloration is just perfect. I've been trying to create a filter recipe in Color Efex Pro to give exactly this rich coloration where even the cool tones feel warm. Composition and depth of field is bang on and your title is just perfect.
Critical stuff: None whatsoever.
Overall: A real treat. Masterful and wonderfully cinematic. I'm looking forward to finding out who pulled this off. |
