this shot looks straight out of a community newspaper. i can almost see the blurb in the paper underneath it what is happening. good work to get in close and frame! (ps how much cropping did you do?)

This is very sweet. I especially like the look on the onlooking girl.
The mother of this kitten was probably moving her babies to a new location, one by one, and this one was found before the mother could come back for it. It is common for cat mothers to move their babies to a new place when they feel a threat in the present location. I hope the little one does OK. |

Wonderful shot Sandy - this is soooo sweet. As usual, getting hammered in the challenge (rain) but that's ok. I actually expected it - we didn't get rain here in CA so I did it my style. :)
CONGRATS on the new camera - I am still working my husband to let me upgrade mine... :) It's a slow process but I made a ton of money this summer from photo shoots, so... I can see a big style change in your shots in that last few months - I really like the progress you've made and how your confidence is showing through. Again - I am soooo happy for your new camera - I have camera envy. :D |

Oh my Sandy, this is splendid! Love the look on their faces but the little one on the left is excellent. Great angle used, very motherly feel to it. |

Finally! Now THIS is a great photo. I'd like for the kitten to be a bit sharper (faster shutter) but everything else is so great! The tonal range is excellent, the square composition is lovely... well done! |

How do you get the "bronze" b&w effect?? I've tried looking on my camera, but to no luck! Is it something that can be changed on photoshop?? Nicely placed subjects, great lighting! |

Very emotive photo, I like it a lot. The framing, the girls expressions, the choise of duotone and motive is just great. Ok, there could be better focus on the kitten, but everything else justifies that. One of the best in this challenge imo, definately top 10 and it wouldn't surprise me to see it in ribbon position. Good luck. |

When I was asking around for ideas, before coming up with one of my own, a friend told me: "Hope? Take a picture of a kid nursing a kitten back to health". And you did a much better job than I would have. |

This is one of those pictures that makes me think "Why can't I capture moments like this!"
Beautiful...the girl on the left peeking over her friend's/sister's shoulder is perfect!
Some other expers around here might be able to give some tips as to how improve the lighting for a shot like this (especially on the arm/bottle in the bottom left corner). Good capture, though...7 |

I thought this was an absolutely beautiful photograph -- I love the subject matter, the lighting on the girls, the tone, the girls' faces, and on and on. I deducted one point because it was hard to see the kitten. I know we're limited by the basic rules, but wish that area had more lighting. Your wording in the title was a very wise choice. --9-- |

A wonderful portrait. The two girls are just beautiful and the expression on the faces is priceless. I might have tried a tighter crop to give the overall photo more of a portrait feel and filled the frame side to side with the two faces and kitten below. Very nice! |
