> That's a lot of low votes. I didn't think this was that bad.
And you shouldn't, as actually it isn't that bad at all. Sure, it is a snapshot, but it certainly portraits an idea of family quite effectively. Even without any title or challenge context to help me, I would have thought of family anyway. I think that, because of the kind of pose, many were reminded of some very typical studio photography images whch are normally taken with pretty effective lighting. So they scored it as they would score a botched studio shot rather than an ok, spontaneous snaphot. Had you taken this with natural light it would have probably attracted higher votes. I was surprised this scored so bad, honestly.

I love the obvious love between these two. Best wishes to them for the imminent event. |

Their mood comes across nicely, only the background is a bit distracting. |

Love the subjects and it seems to capture true feeling. It is too bad that the background is distracting from your subjects. |

I do like this classic idea and they are clearly a loving couple, although that harsh shadow from his face is distracting; a more even light spread would have been good, maybe a flashgun bounce. Placing them in front of a less busy background would have helped too. As it is, it's a bit snapshotty in my eyes. Nice to see one of these in colour for a change though. |
