Challenge: Free Study 2011-10 (Advanced Editing VII)
Camera: Canon EOS-550D Rebel T2i
Lens: Canon EF 70-200mm f/4.0L IS USM
Location: Zambia
Date: Oct 21, 2011
Aperture: 4.0
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/1250
Date Uploaded: Oct 27, 2011

Shot is from Victoria Falls, Zambia. October / November is part of the dry season so there's very little water, hence the wet rock face not covered by a "blanket of water". You were able to walk across / in the river Zambezi, as long as you watch out for sudden water outbursts. These two guys are standing at the "center" of the 1.7km wide falls - a trip a later made myself. The falls are 111 meters high.

Split toning, vignetting, and sharpening done in pp. Rest is as captured.

I took all the "standard" wide angle shots as well, but - oddly enough - none captured the true size better than this 200mm tele shot in my opinion.

Again, thanks!

Magnificent. Reminds me of "The Mission", with Robert DeNiro. I've never seen split toning work this well before. What a great technique for this image. Congrats on the top 10.

Fantastic photograph with excellent mood. I love the blue tones, the epicness of that dropoff and of course the tiny people on top. 9

Looks like an insignificant little person up there ... contemplating that deep, dark chasm. Interesting light and shadow. I almost expect to hear a voice from the heavens or screams from below. This image certainly got my imagination going!
