 My aim was to stir up the viewers emotions.
Your interpretation is as good as anyone else's.
I nearly didn't enter this shot, I had many others to chose from my trip to the Philippines, which was full of candid shots. But when I saw this it just resonated some very strong emotions!

The title is 'holding on' in french.

I'm overwhelmed by all the nice comments, I actually feel like I did win a ribbon, THANKS TO ALL.

This was a 10 from me Anita. This image shows so much emotion that I couldn't believe it didn't place in the top 3. It really tells a story. Apparently, 10 other people thought the same thing.

Another who liked this shot, though I would like to see a bit more 'punch' to it. Seem's a little flat but I am in the minority I guess :-)

extraordinaire (excuse my French) - those layers always make me emotional, so I apologies. See this for example

I wonder if this is water or some glass?
The monochrome conversion has a whiteroom quality to it, which I envy.
