This is NOT the shot I had planned!

I had a completely different shot in mind.

However (luckily) I have a naughty kitten. :)

I was trying to simply do a picture of an apple to test my lighting, etc for a more complicated apple shot later on.

Moriarty decided to get up on the table (which he's not supposed to do.)

I quickly took two shots: this entry and this shot:

I loved both of them, but was still madly in love with my original idea.

But the more I looked at the cat shot, I knew I had to give up on my original plan.

The first processing I did was just sepia:

But then I decided that I wanted just a tad of the color back.

I fell completely in love with the image. It's so different from my normal stuff -- I wish I knew how to do this more often!

Then my poor friends had to listen to me whine the first day because it started off with 4.7 after 8 votes.

I hereby apologize for my whining! I'm not sure I've ever seen a score climb like this one.

Thanks for the wonderful comments, votes and favs! I have no idea where this will end up -- but I'm so glad that some people liked it as much as I did. :)

Really hard to make this style crop work in my opinion, but it's perfect for this. Love the processing.

Beautiful job, Wendy. The b&w is cool, but this somewhat desaturated version is an inspiration.

tremendous clarity on the apple. The cats pose is enhanced by that DOF, and I can only see a certain amount of thematic depth, or I would have given it a 10.

I can't stop looking at her eyes. And I shouldn't look, just wait for her to sniff and move on. Very very scary, perfect. 10+.
