 Taken on my trip around Maroon Bells

Composition is made out of three photographs: 1 during sunset (2o sec exposure) and then 2 30-minute exposures after it got dark for the star trails. Overlapped the star trails and combined the 2 remaining images and played around with them in cs5 until it looked mostly how I wanted it to.

Several things to complain about: the tripod moved slightly during the star trails and the tails are a little off axis. Also the snow in the mountains is somewhat blurry for the same reason.

Overall, it took about 3 hours to take the photos and 2 hours to edit them. Not too bad.

I wish I took this..... I love star trails and love landscape and places like Yosemite.... I think you have a real shot at winning this! good luck! it makes me want to delete my entry somehow... haha

That icy blue makes me cold. Awesome star trails. I thought the branch in the water was some insane swimmer who froze in place.
