 This shot was taken at Stevens Pass in the Cascade Mountains WA. I saw the icicles hanging from a cliff in an area that gets no sun. I pulled off the side of the road took the picture and then found out from a friendly police officer that I had stopped in an avalanche chute, I wasn't going to stick around for that opportunity!

Hmm... the image quality is a bit low, but the composition is very effective. I'd like some more contrast, I think. Otherwise, it's a very nice photo.

Looks good to me. The angle and framing/cropping are good. I like the downward angle of the ice cicles. focus and clarity are good. The contrast appears to be alright as well. Lighting conditions appear to have been cooperative for you. Looks untouched by man to me, although I can't really tell what the cicles are hanging off of, that's ok. Good luck in the challenge.

challenge -- met
composition -- the long format really works well here, so does b&w. nice title, too.
technical -- somehow this doesn't look as crisp and clear to me as i would expect, but i am at a loss whether that's the photo or post-processing. sorry.
overall impression -- love the idea and composition, not so sure about the technical aspects of it all.

I just love icicles, and this is a very nice shot. Love the black and white, and the nice dark background. The crop on the shot feels slightly unbalanced to me though I can't put my finger on why, exactly. 8

Nice use of the new picture size rule. THe shot looks a bit out of focus, and the icicles aren't the prettiest I've seen, but overall not bad.
