 This image is made of two photos, the bottom half (the boat and the sea) was taken 10th of September and the upper half (the Aurora sky) 12th of September.
Camera Raw convertion, layers, curves, levels, clone, dodge&burn, hue/saturation, color balance, NoiseNinja and USM in PS CS4.

Yes this is taken on Skógarströnd near Snæfellsnes on the west cost of Iceland. I hope you'll find it in your next visit, if not you can contact me :)

Not real. Boat would have cast some sort of shadow I think, even in this low light situation. Some stars with trails, some not?

So wonderful. I'm in awe of the beauty in this shot. I do think it's real. What's interesting about long exposures of water is you begin to see reflections that aren't there in person, in this case, the reflection of the aurora. Really pretty shot.
