Wow- this will be my best score.
The image was taken on Charlie's Bunion,
a rocky outcrop on the Appalachian Trail,
in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.
Its dawn, and some low lying clouds are drifting across the range. The rocks in the foreground are slightly polished from the hiking boots of the many hikers that visit this popular stop.

The image is a composite from 5 images of different exposure. The images were combined in photomatix in the "fusion" mode rather that the traditional HDR mode. I Added a little enhancement with topaz adjust (everywhere except near the sun).
A number of local exposure adjustments, and finally enhanced the flare saturation slightly.

This is beautiful. You can really get a sense of the warmth of the morning glow and you managed to keep texture and detail in the trees/cloud/fog. Love it! Is this done with HDR?

A lovely shot, I just wish the flare was a stronger element, good enough for HM, but just a bit more would have put it at the top.

Beautiful work. The extraordinarily long star burst flare adds to the image in the spirit of the challenge. A few smaller traditional aperture flares also add to the effect.
