 This photo is part of my Project 50 series where I take a self portrait on the 14th day of each month starting from my 49th birthday in May until I turn 50. This is the 4th self portrait in the series. In this photo I wanted to wear something of my mothers who passed away Aug 3, 2011. My mom was my best friend and I will miss her dearly. She was a very good dresser and wore scarves to dress up her clothes. My father gave me all her scarves. I am still learning how to knot them. This scarf screamed stripes.

Overcooked the eyes a bit... and the skin, I fear. But, I love the stripes! Well thought out!

I like the soft focus on the face and the use of what I assume to be the diffuse window light there. I think the softness and the diffuse light falls off too quickly on the side of the head scarf and you are left with harder light and shadows which really takes away from that soft, feminine feel and dominates too big a portion of the frame. The textures are very different too because of the different light. Otherwise this is a really great shot and a wonderful take on the challenge.

There is something immensely appealing about this image. I think it may be the cool yet warm aqua tones
