CrazyDiamond, to answer your question about the shadows on the background. I tried lots of stuff to get the shadow but didn't have enough room to cast such a big shadow. So I made it from a 50cmx50cm black cardboard and taped it to a lightstand. Then I put it in front of the camera and marked on the floor were the lightstand should be. Took it away and took the picture, then moved the lightstand were i had marked and manually shot a speedlite. Hench the 30 sec exposure.

Campy, cheesy and I mean that as a huge compliment .. I am a fan (read fanatic) of this genre - well lit, composed and pay your model big bucks - 8 |

I keep coming back to this image. Independently of the Film Noir, it has a lot of power. |

Marvelous set-up. A bit too well lit for me. I would have liked to see the lighting drop off dramatically on the far left, and much more toned down on the wall behind her and on the right of the frame. Wonderful shadow presence. |

Love the drama in this. It looks staged (which it is), but then I thought, film noir movies were very melodramatic and over the top. So I think you've done a nice job. Would love to know how you got the shadow of the man in the background! |

Nice shadows however something seems off in either the lighting or the depth of field.8 |

Great depth using different lighting intensity at each level! You really separated the model from the background. One thing I am curious about is the graininess of the subject that appears to be different than the background... |
