 The setup was the hardest part of this shot. I used a waterptoof tape to hold the whiskey glass to the wooden surface (an old shelf) and stood this up at 90 degrees, the camera was then set at 90 degrees to match the horizontal plane of the shelf. I used a metal grinder to cut off the bottom of an old whiskey bottle (no whiskey went to waste in the shooting of this scene!) the bottle was then strapped to the shelf. The cork was also taped to the shelf. I then used a basic workmans lamp above the bottle and poured the whiskey (a mix of water and tea) into the top while shooting multiple shots, the best one was then chosen, slightly edited in lightroom (mainly for noise and exposure) and submitted to DPC. Simple but effective! Hope you enjoy it.

Thanks for all the comments, looks like I was one of the ones who thought of a vertical subject shot horizontally, maybe thats why score was so low... nevermind!

Love the intense action of the liquid while the stopper sits quietly in the middle unfazed. Nice lighting and composition. This should have placed much higher. Great shot.

Isn't this a vertical picture of a vertical subject that you rotated? Not sure if that meets the challenge...
