After agonizing over which three shots I spent soooo much time on the title. I finally found two, but now am going back and forth on title : Ethereal or Ascend - Ascend or Ethereal...argh

Items used:

feather, glitter dust (not regular glitter for that has larger 'pieces'), water, glitter body spray, dropper, ruler, tripod. tissue paper and floral wire.

Sprayed feather with glitter body spray to get some sparkle to it which doesn't show well here.

Wrapped floral wire around ruler as base then stuck the end of it into the stem of the feather. That held the feather aloft with no hands needed.

Carefully and selectively scoop up water and glitter in dropper and place on feather. If mistake is made carefully place tissue paper on spot to absorb mistake. Patience and steady hand is needed to get it just right.

Set camera exposure time for 4 to 6 seconds that way the paper behind the feather can be gently moved side to side forth to create nice blurred backdrop.

It is 6 hours til rollover and I have a really nice score. Even so, the challenges (and several really great entries in this challenge) of Dr. Seuss and the Far Side: Gary Larson Tribute taught me that never *expect* anything...just enjoy the ride:-)
And it's been quite a ride.

I'm a bit late to the party, but congrats on the ribbon! Gorgeous image.. And the idea of moving the background to blur it out is actually something I would'nt have thought of! Geez!

Congratulations on your newest ribbon. I love the light, texture, and color you have here. This was one of my 10s - I can feel the softness of the feather -- it almost makes me sneeze to look at it -- and the graduated drops are icing on the cake. Thanks for sharing the 'recipe'.

I find it interesting that this got such a great score, and a ribbon, and so few comments during voting. Well done, and congrats on your new ribbon. The fluffy down on the feather adds a tactile sort of element to the soft pinkness of the overall image.
