 A bubble usually becomes semi-sphere quickly after it touches the water surface. To make a photo like this, I have to pray for the timing of the moment when the bubble touched the surface.

I used a straw to blow small size bubble and positioned it ~6" above water surface. I then suddenly retracted the straw so the bubble dropped onto water surface. The key timing is when the bubble touches the water surface which was purely luck because each bubble dropped with different speed. If too slow, the bubble would be cropped. If too fast, the bubble would be semi-spherical.

May I ask what hardware you used for the droplets? Some kind of micro-controller commanding a solenoid valve I suppose?

I never mentioned my dropper because what a shame I am still using the old fashion method. I still wonder if it worth upgrading to DIY digital micro controller like you said. Especially after I saw people contaminated my "Absolut fulfilling" thread like that. I guess I won't do it unless I feel so much fun doing the soldering work and electrical engineering research.

Congratulations William, the bubble is a refreshing addition to the concept: it's the first time I see a soap bubble next to a droplets collision. Also, given your explanations on the timing, I'm sure it required a good amount of work and patience :-)
May I ask what hardware you used for the droplets? Some kind of micro-controller commanding a solenoid valve I suppose?

This is a class of photography that is so beyond my skills, I'm not even tempted to try. I'd just rather sit here and admire this exquisiteness. Yes, drops have been done. But so have portraits, landscapes, etc. etc. Besides, there are drops, and then there are DROPS! Although I also wish the entire ripple could be seen, it's an insignificant detail, compared to the complexity of colors you have achieved in both the subjects and their reflections, and the delicious smoothness of the green water. Simply sensational.

Somehow I missed leaving a comment on this - I think I was just overwhelmed at it's complexity and beauty.

I have never tried to do one of these because I know it's way beyond my abilities.

No matter how many times this type of photo has been done, it's like landscapes, I never grow tired of seeing how each photographer create their own unique take on the subject.

Haha great idea, but I think the bubble liquid is not good for frog's health. Unless I am lucky to find a frog with a built-in bubble. Like this one.

Have we? Bubble and splash? There have been a lot of repetitive liquid drop captures in the past, but I think william88brings something new and is in a league of his own. Well done :)

Very nice. I have no idea how you did this. I might have composed it either wider in the left or tighter on the right. But that is just my preference on the thing. I've no idea how you got the different colour splash. Did you use under water lighting?

I suspect you might be william88, but in case you aren't, possibly the best picture I've seen of this sort is william88's "Momentary Sculpture" .

Here, you have the red water doing very well against green backdrop, and the full bubble floating around is just amazing timing. The only thing keeping me from giving a 10 is that the picture feels a little unbalanced - there should be a bit more on the left side and chop of a little bit more on the right side. Still, I hope you ribbon.

Always like these "mushroom splash" shots, the reflection definetly adds to it, the bubble i'm not so certain. Great capture never the less.
