 Well, one thing I learned doing this, is that autofocus in useless with an extension tube on my 70-300 zoom. Interestingly, the optimum focal length always seemed to be somewhere around 100mm or so. This was shot at 92mm. I guess that's why specialty macro lenses tend to be in the 80-100mm range.

Post-challenge notes:
Performed way better than anticipated, but for me, it still can't live up to the performance of my shoehorn fly from the previous Bug's Life challenge.

NICE image (this one passed me by). Funny to have something in your high scoring front page that didn't even feature in the top 10, eh? (I have my profile best of set to 7).

Not sure how this slid so far, I had this slotted for a ribbon. I love the way you made him look like the original "Hopper".

What a Spiffy looking grasshopper ;)

Really like the bokeh in the background here, I think the major flaw here is that piece of whatever it is that's between the grasshopper and the stem... I also think this could have been a good candidate for some selective coloring... :) Still, a good shot, with very nice focus.
