 Sunrise in the Canadian Rockies is spectacular. In June sunrise is around 5:20 am. As I live in Calgary, not Banff, I had to get up at about 2:50 am to drive out to Banff National Park. I didn't get the fiery colors in the sky I was hoping for but the serenity of Vermilion Lakes is always worth the drive no matter what time of day I head out there.

Three exposure HDR processed in Photomatix. The middle exposure had enough dynamic range but since I had the three shots I tried an HDR. I think I liked the result because the longer exposure image flattened out the water really well and removed all disturbances.

I took the HDR tiff and used barrel distortion correction in PSP X2. I then resized, sharpened, and exported as a JPG.

I wondered where this might be. A part of Canada I've yet to discover, someday. Beautiful reflection. If you had gotten the fiery colors you were hoping for this woudl of been a top 10 image.

Beautiful reflection and clarity in the foreground. The stump between the reflected peaks is a nice touch to the composition.
