Yes, this is a dead Asian Lady Beetle, which were introduced into the US around 1916 to control aphids. And this kind of Lady Beetle can bite!
Lydia, you are too funny! If anyone has used dead bugs, lizards, or birds successfully in photos to simulate live ones, it's you!

I bow to the master/mistress photographer of dead things! :-D

These are not the regular Lady Beetles with which most people are familiar. In the fall here in MN, they invade homes to ride out the winter. I found quite a few dead ones when we opened up the cabin for the summer. Maybe it's a new headless variety!

Ha! Ya have to fake it better... ;) Dead tbugs need to at least still have their head to be a good fake.

The flower looks like it's water flowing... pretty cool!

I really like the idea, but I feel as if the image might actually be too tight of a shot, if that makes sense. I just feel like we almost can't know for sure what the ladybug is 'standing' on..
