 Had to decide whether to enter this or this, but I like the softer, subtle version better.

Shot in manual with the 430exii on full blast. Converted from RAW with lots of tweaks, adjustments and knob turning. This the longest I have looked at and played with an image.


After Challenge:
Thanks for all the supportive comments. I'm glad I went with this image as opposed to the alternative.

I wonder if I had made is slightly more high key if I could have pushed out some extra high scores?

Still, it was a hard balance to keep the appearance of the lips separate from the rose. Maybe in advanced I could have added a subtle vignette.

All in all, I'm very happy with my score and placement. My PB so far, thank you for the comments!

I was so convinced this would be the blue ribbon. I cannot believe anyone would give it a 2, 3 or even a 4. Amazing work.

I'm surprised this was 6th. It was one of only 2 in this comp that I rated a 10. Great job. I really like how closely matched the colors of the lips and the pedals are. I wonder how many people didn't even realize there was a mouth around the rose.

This is one of my favorites in this challenge, I really love the idea and the detail in the photo. I just wish it was more high key, more brightness would've made this shot a really fantastic shot for the challenge. Still, I hope it does well based on how unique and creative I think it is. 8

Excellent! I love how it takes a moment to figure out. I initially thought it was the oddest rose I'd ever seen. Love the pp'ing. Oh, and gorgeous lips!!!
