So I was going for not only a miniature version of the Statue of Liberty but also a microcosm of society living in the light of her ideals...perhaps a bit too deep.

Though a few seemed to enjoy it...thanks for the comments.

Most suggested a tighter crop, but I wasn't interested in the details of the scene more it's overall effect. My goal wasn't to pry into the life of a homeless man but instead use his situation as a vehicle for social commentary. Also created the empty space and other side of the street look to add to the feeling of isolation. I've seen it cropped and it doesn't have the same impact.

I personally wouldn't hang it on my wall, but I was hoping for a bit more commentary from it...oh well.

I like the idea, but there is too much negative space... a tight crop would really have hilighted the subjects well and eliminated distracting elements.

Great image. The atmosphere you have created is quite dramatic. The composition is awesome with the clutter gathering in the corner and all the space above. It has a kind of dramatic silence that somehow speaks more of hope than despair. The crisp lighting adds a touch of surealism that makes it a bit dream like. It borders on being a characature of the theme but doesn't quite go that far (which I think is a good thing). I guess I'm saying this is an edgy picture in a number of ways. On a side note if you were to paint out the building on the right and the trees on the left to create a black backdrop it would look like the set of a modern play (that wouldn't be allowed under the challenge rules though). I don't mean to rave on, this image just inspires my imagination so much. Good luck with the challenge.

Wow! Huge content portraying Mrs. freedom herself, miniaturised but glowing with importance, before the American homeowner dream turned nightmare. Fantastic lighting with pitch black background very effective. Now for the gritty...Are we talking abroad and/or on US soil? Hot topic photo. Thanks!

crop out the building on the right for a stronger composition, the colors seem a bit washed out as well. But the idea is very very good. for the merits of the idea i'll give a 9

This is an image full of sadness - the statue of "liberty" looking down on a street person who finds that his freedom comes with a dose of indifference from the rest of society. Although I can understand the reason for the use of negative space to amplify his solitude I am frustrated that I cannot see the detail that intrigues me. 7
