Critique Club critique:

Composition/Content: Catches the eye with the shiny metallic surface. The center of focus is the center of the photo where the surface is the shiniest. From there the eye wanders in two directions: up to the left across the pouring surface, and down to the left to where the liquid is pouring into the bubbles. The bubbles add content to the photo. The grain in the upper left is a little disappointing to the eye. Great camera angle and composition.
Lighting: Lighting is excellent, bright across the photo and no particular bright or dark spots.
Camera Work/Technical: Exposure is good. ISO of 400 might be the cause of the grain in the upper left. I don't know, but possibly a smaller aperature, F8, and longer exposure might have let you shoot at a lower ISO, resulting in less grain at the top and a wider depth of field. Again, that might not have been possible.
Digital Processing: Color tweaking looks great, is balanced and nice and bright.
My Opinion: I might have cropped the top third. Great creativity, color, and overall impact to the eye.

a mini-waterfall (about 5 inches) in nearby Santa Ana River - tweaked a bit to increase the green --- the "bad" bubbles are probably the result of the urban pollution :(

Sorry to be harsh on the score. I think there is a bit too much water here. I am wondering what this would have looked like a little wider angle. The composition is good. For some reason it looks a bit Pixilated.

A very fluid shot. Cool colors. The grainyness of the photo lends a certain 1970\'s documentary feel to it. Very nice.

there is definately motion here. The photo seems grainy to me. Otherwise, I like the anlge and framing/cropping you have chosen, and the motion is very clear and obvious. Lighting conditions seem ok for the shot. Good luck in the challenge.

Wow! Great texture of the water, it makes it look like some liquid metal. Colors are great. I think it would've benefit from some noise reduction. Good luck!

Nice composition and color.

I like the grainy-ness, I think however, that some color editing should be done so the water doesnt look so "greenish gold"

Uck... looks like green oooze. :)

Lovely emerald green. Don't know if I like the grainyness or not, though...

What wonderful colours and smoothness - looks silky. I like the composition and the greeny colouring and the bubbles in the water too.

Less than half of your picture is displayed. Second try this session, I will come back later in the week to try again. Second day, second browser, only the top third of the picture loads. Finaly, first try on a Mac, I see the full image. I like this photo alot, has sort of a metalic look to it.

The green fluid is not recognized at first glance. I would prefer more view of the circumstances of what's being poured.

wow. new desktop. the colors are amazing. the composition is really good, except for the bubbles (which i find really distracting from the flow of the lines of the water). good range of lights and darks. dof used very effectively. the patterns in the water are beautiful. and i even like the grain. 10.

Too bad about the noise, still a strong shot.

Beautiful. This water looks like mercury.

A little bit of a noisy photo, but other than that it is a cool idea! jgillard6
