Southwestern wildfires dump haze over Colorado

This image will be published in the Estes Park News on Friday, June 10. Maybe the front page. So, I guess it's not a minimalist image, but it is worthy of publication.

Hurrah! Front page above the fold. 06/10/11

[Jun. 11th, 2011 06:05:11 PM]

At 125 votes, the image's score has climbed a full point from the early 20 vote score. So, I'll guess the first voters punished the image for having interesting detail. And, the later voters judged the image on its merits, being less judgmental about the minimalist aspects.

Lovely capture of receding hills and ridges. The top half meets the challenge topic and a panoramic view of just that would be gorgeous IMO, but I find the lower half too busy and my eye keeps getting drawn there instead.

Love those rays and gradations with the mist. Super Image. Might be called out as DNMC as there is a LOT of landscape in this shot.

WOOOOOW! BEAUTIFUL lighting, contrast, colors, etc.. I've been to Horseshoe Park, but this is an excellent view of it. I just had to sit here enjoying every ray, river bend, and aspen. I hope this does well!

Gorgeous scene but minimalist? I think it's too busy for that.
