ok it's been more than a year since this challenge but this photo has always been rattling around in my head, especially since i've learned more and more... i've gotta say this shot truly is awesome. To say the least you fully nailed "in the style of HCB" and i'm writing this now because i am starting to finally understand what that means. thank you. |

Jagar,
I came back to this image while I was looking at another portfolio and wanted to say this about it, and believe me, I speak the truth.
When I think of HCB and what he would do in a situation, I think of many of his images while I'm standing at the street corner, or waiting an hour for the right person to step into the scene.
I also think of this image...but, and this is where I must be honest, I often forget that this shot does not belong to Henri...it belongs to you! I literally get you and HCB confused.
If someone ever said the latter to me, I can't imagine how I'd feel, so just know that I find this to be an amazing image, and one that I think of daily as an example of the finest street photography. |

As I said before, this was by far and away my favorite of the challenge. I never doubted for a minute that it would finish in first place. Congratulations.
Thanks for sharing your camera settings. I have never used in-camera b/w conversion, because I was afraid it would take away my ability to decide on how best to convert it. I see here, that when used properly, the in-camera conversion works beautifully. And this is really the answer to shooting b/w for a minimal editing challenge. |

This is easily my top chioice. Beautifully exicuted from capture through processing. Henri Cartier-Bresson would probably mistake it for his own. this deserves both the dpc blue and the ph blue-a very rare event. I would think this has a chance of getting both. I hope it does. good luck. 10 |

Awesome shot, love the composition and I really think you captured a 'decisive moment' here. nicely exposed shot too although it is just a smidge dark on the kiddy in the background, I would love to have seen him/her a little clearer too.
This is the top 3 for me for sure, love it!! |

Wonderful to catch both feet off the ground! Feels as though it's very old school (except I don't think old-school bags had handles). Marvelous textures, light. Very much the "decisive moment" to me.
Back. This was the tenth photo I viewed for this challenge. It is the best homage to HCB and I suspect blue ribbon. Excellent work. |

My winner! Fantastic work. You should be very proud of this shot. He is late for something important! Probably heading home from school and will see his dad for the first time in over a year, as his dad is returning from serving his country in an overseas post or he has to go to the bathroom. :) Either way the shot invoke emotion and that's the essence of Henri Cartier-Bresson. Well Done. |

Best of the group, nice sense of figure in place which is essential for HCB, and the best moment captured, that sense of action at the point of divergence is just perfect. However this scores, I give you the blue. |

Wonderful photo. I'm having a very hard time judging this challenge but I can believe this photo. I want to believe it. If it was setup I don't think the photographer would have included the second child. If it is setup, including the second child was brilliant. If that child had been illuminated in that patch of light I would have questioned the photo....to perfect. I'm no Bresson expert by any means but this captures his essence imho. From the setting to the light to the decisive moment this photo works overtime for me.
If this photo is a truly candid shot then I'm in awe of this person's work. If it is setup it's still a wonderful shot, just not in the spirit of this challenge. |
