from the critique club:
These compositions always have the plus added interest of the perpective. It cetainly fits the challenge and you managed to capture the blue shade to full satisfaction. The exposure is reasonably well and I am pleased with with your choice of subject. As is, my only complaint is that it lacks a focal point. By this I mean that one of these locks should be in sharp focus. The eye searches and the most promising is the first lock, but not clear enough. A tighter crop would have eliminated the item on the top which is extraneous.
There are other ideas you could have considered to change the dynamics of the image. For example, one of those locker doors open ! Once you have an open door other possibilities begin to emerge by showing some personal attire, books, schedule etc.. In this way the image takes the viewer from the big impersonal picture to the personal.
To conclude, your idea is good but you should have said, "okay, I have a good idea, but is it strong enough as a main interest, or is it merely a very good background. What else do I need?"
Always question your ideas with the aim of answering the crucial question does this image have a focal point or do I just want to go with the concept. Both of these systems work, but the latter sometimes fails if there is not enough interest to hold the viewer.
In this case the concept is school days and its representation is the blue locker formation. If your concept was water and you were showing a waterfall, then the waterfall would have enough interest to hold the viewers attention. With the lockers, there are no surprises pending since they are the same. If you choose to stick to the concept as is then you need an interesting reflection or some interesting lighting to add interest.
Do not be totally disheartened. The color is very pleasant and the initial subject matter was good. We all do this, we get carried away with a concept and never examine all the possibilities inherent in it. I think you did very well for your first challenge and now that you have gotten your feet wet, rest assured that 5.3 is not bad. Can you do better? Of course you can and you will. Simply start as early as possible and examine your effort and keep asking the above questions.
