I have a new, white backdrop, and I had a lot of fun playing with it. This was the shot I was going to enter:
It probably would have done better. But I was intrigued by something someone said in the light on white thread.
They were bemoaning the fact that you needed a studio for this. I was an interesting idea... I wondered whether I could do a seagull shot in minimal editing.
The sky was overcast with the high white clouds, so I was covered. However, even then, even if you over expose the bird, it's not enough. So I played with the on-board flash and later on a hot shoe flash. It was an interesting experiment. The biggest problem was that the vast majority of gulls were laughing gulls:
While they're definitely white, I figured there was too much black to work for a "light on white" challenge.
6.2, so I expect it to miss top 10, but it was a fun experiment and it's extremely rare for me to get 3 favorites during voting. So that's a wonderful bonus.
