I had a very hard time with this challenge. I knew to be effective, tilt must not only be intentional, but the correct subject would be needed. To be, the subject must have a sense of movement. By tilting the frame, you are introducing a high amount of un-balanced energy, something that is perceived as stationary just doesn't seem appropriate.
And that's where I got this subject from. Being a train, we all know that it moves. By using this perspective, the tilt can have an effect of the train moving towards the viewer. Thus, I believe this shot worked how I hoped it would, I just wonder how it will resonate with voters (other than the obvious DNMC challenge votes I will get for not having a "horizon"). I'm sure I will get a fair number of people who don't like the processing, but I really enjoy the gritty/dirty way it came out.
Post Processing:
* White Balance on all exposures
* Reduce exposure and increase recovery of the most underexposed shot
* Increase exposure of the most overexposed shot
* Combined all 6 exposures in Nik HDR Efex Pro
* Topaz Detail used to bring out sharpness and adjust tones
* Increase black point
* Decrease brightness
* Increase saturation and increase vibrancy
* Curves
* Levels
* Vignette
* Export to TIFF
* Sharpen Edges
* Save as JPEF |

You cropped off the most interesting part of the train. |
