A purple hyacinth in my garden in sunlight filtered through a shrubbery. I did move the flower ever-so-slightly to get those two flower heads in the light. I rather like how this one blooms rather more sparsely than it probably would in the full sun. It lets me appreciate the shape of the individual flowers more.
Love the DOF and the light and the rich colors so I like it no matter how it scores.
Had the 36mm teleconverter on, as best I recall.
PP - tonemapped in qtpfsgui (pregamma 0.697, mantiuk method, contrast mapping 0.1, saturation factor 1.029, detail factor 1), lightened both layers and merged with original at 20% transparency in multiply mode, slight crop, levels, increased saturation and contrast, toned down a few brighter areas in the background, dodged main flowers a bit more, resized, sharpened with noise reduction, added border. |

The tones almost look metallic |

The opposing directionality of the two primary subjects keeps pulling my attention from side to side. Love the colors, though! |

Lovely flowers, I like how they are coming out of the darkness. |

moody, and oh so beautiful. I love how hyper-sharp the left flower is, and how the DOF creates several variations of the same flower. Black is a bit heavy for this challenge, I would typically associate white as a cool color. I'm nit picking, I really don't know what to say. |

This is extraordinary, you'll have to tell me your secret in how you achieved this later. My pick for the blue. |
