For pictures like this where you are trying to pull out shapes and textures, I would recommend shooting this at a different time of day. The harsh light of mid day is usually the worst time of day for taking pictures. Pick morning before the sun gets too high or late in the afternoon/ evening. |

it might have been good to skew this towards the blue-green or tiel... it doesn't look that cool to me this way. |

technically this is a type of Agave Americana Plant, this one seems quite green, the ones that I've seen around here usually have a strong hint of blue/gray to them. They are quite large (or will get very large)...the "teeth" on them will rip you apart for sure. |

I think this would do better to have been more cropped in, and focused on a specific part of the plant.
as it sits now, there's some extremely harsh highlights, and some of the non-plant parts are distracting. I like how hard the shadows fall on the right side, maybe that could be a more interesting shot? |
