 One of my wife's cranberry glass dessert dishes lit from below on a homemade light table.

Interesting how something that appears to be a smooth, perfect glass surface shows these concentric rings when lit from below. It also showed a lot of blotchy imperfections in the glass, which I was fortunately able to deal with due to advanced editing rules.

I had originally done this shot for the rule of thirds challenge, but could not get it to look the way I desired under basic editing rules. This topic should be much more abstract friendly anyway, so I reshot it.

Anticipated critiques/comments:
-Someone is sure to critique the off center crop. I did try it both centered and square, but both of those drew my eye straight to the hole in the middle, rather than to the subtle texture of the object's surface, which is what I find the interest of this to be.

Post-challenge notes:
Well, I knew a pure abstract would be a risky entry, even in a challenge like this. I did get some positive feedback on it and it pulled in a fair share of people who did like it. May I join the hallowed ranks of misunderstood artists?

Uneven background bothers me a bit... the yellow could have been easily taken out in Advanced... yet still... I love the simplicity of this! (not voting)

Nice color and sharp lines. For me I would have liked to see maybe a few more in the composition, just enough to make it more abstract. What I do like is the cleanness of the image. Good job!

Doesn't really strike me as fine art. What message, emotion, or thought is this supposed to convey to me? Why should I glance at it for more than a second? The answers to these questions is what determines fine art to me.
I do like the colors and the composition. 5
