Thank you for the nice comments. Several asked how I did this shot. It isn't terribly complicated, but did take a while to set up, more to avoid strange flashes, reflections or too much ambient light. Essentially the shot involves setting up a wall mirror against a black backdrop, setting up a strobe that was not synched to the camera, and using a long exposure (6 seconds). I covered up one half of the lens with a piece of black cardboard, had my daughter suck in, pressed the shutter release, hit the strobe, moved the cardboard to the other side of the lens, had her puff out, and hit the strobe again. With a dark room and black backdrop there was little light leakage and little ghosting.

Thank you again for the kind words

I look forward to finding out how this was done, I think I see a difference in freckle count between your models, and I hope its enough to keep people from thinking you did an illegal edit and voting you down. this shot works on many levels, It tells a story truly and quickly. It has a very nice tonal range, showing skill in lighting and editing. And it is a fine graphic. I hope to see it win a ribbon.

This is fabulous! The only cc I would give would be that pesky mirror reflection on the right beside the belly is drawing my eye to it, but that's being really picky.....10 + fav :)

This is a really well executed concept, and the lack of head adds to the power of the shot. The low-key aspects of the shot, and the wide gamut of tone/zone inside the image are handled well. The strain of body to make the model in the mirror look, "fat" adds to the effect.

Hmmmm good idea and I think I know how its done. If its done the way I do mine...then it may be a DQ. If you somehow found a new legal way to do it....I WANT TO KNOW HOW !
