I probably should have submitted something else for this, but there's something about the image that tugs at my attention. This is a manequin in a downtown store window, which is regularly dressed and posed differently.

Some of the aspects of this image that stand out for me:
* This is a "familiar" subject, as I walk downtown whenever I can find the time
* The ever-changing looks catch the eye, so it's also "new"
* The visual mix of inside and outside elements due to reflections in the glass

I'll typically capture an image of "her", if I have the camera with me, as the lighting and arrangements are always different, and I try to compose the image differently each time. I guess this qualifies as a "study" (5 or 6 shots in 10 months isn't quite an obsession, right?). ;)

post-challenge:

Thanks to everyone for all the great feedback! This did much much better than I ever expected and bumped my #5 image (my first DPC entry) off my profile page.

I submitted a similar image in the Reflections Without Mirrors challenge, but it didn't do nearly as well:

The inanimate watching the animate, still eyes documenting the scurry. The changing of outfits upon the mannequin add even more. I like that the mannequin is sufficiently blurred to keep the viewer from readily ascertaining its artifice. A stand-in compelling us to remember times where we gazed at a steadily changing world, at forlorn days receding into the past, of drops falling upon the pane that we would never see again. Very nice. I also like how there is such a variety of lines, characters, everything within the reflection. Drives home the change and complexity all the more.
