I was planning on shooting a baker's dozen of doughnuts, but this light happened, so i went out to the altamont pass windfarm where i knew I could frame up any given number of windmills. I was driving along the freeway and saw this hill with really nice light and i pulled over to get it before the light shifted.

I have a collection of landscapes with the cow trails that look like topographic lines along the hillsides and this one goes in that basket.

Super surreal light here. The eye cannot rest on the green except to find its way to the burrows and cracks, to be forced upward to the windmills. The short area of sky is nice, it forces your eyes back down to repeat the process.

I know exactly where you took this! Gorgeous! Great shot! :) The back road that goes along there (you can access it from Livermore and from... the other side) lets you get some good views without endangering your life quite so much. :) I shot my only ribbon-winning photo from that road. :)

without the mills those hills are rather sensuous and shapely. with the mills this fits the challenge very well. Either way, wonderful light!
